Sam Allardyce: I\'ve seen quite a positive attitude

Head coach on joining Leeds United.

After being announced as head coach of Leeds United for the remainder of the 2022/23 season, Sam Allardyce has spoken with the media.

The 68-year-old has taken training with the squad and will be in the dugout for the first time on Saturday, against Manchester City.

Following his appointment, Allardyce shared his thoughts.

He said: When you get the opportunity to manage Leeds United, you jump at the chance.

“To try and save this club, to keep it in the Premier League is a big responsibility. It was one I was prepared to take because of who Leeds United are.

“I've always known the history of the club and the fact I used to play against Allan Clarke and people like that, it was always been a pleasure to play at Elland Road.

“There's a lot for me and Karl [Robinson] particularly, and the lads in the analysis to go through, to try and drum up as many alternatives to how we try and get better in each department.

“I always say to players it's not a great deal of improvement that you need. If everybody improved by two per cent, that'd be 22 per cent improvement in the team, which is massive.

“So one or two per cent better than they've already been will make a big difference.

"I've seen quite a positive attitude. Collectively, they seem good together, my first impressions are that they are desperate to do better.

“And that of course needs a bit of support and a bit of guidance, and breathing a bit of confidence into them.”
