Leeds United bolstered their defence on Thursday evening, capturing the signing of Premier League central defender Joe Rodon.

The 25-year-old has agreed a season-long loan from Tottenham Hotspur and if selected, could make his debut against Birmingham City this weekend.

Below, we have 10 facts on our latest arrival to help you get to know him further!


•       Joe’s birthday is on October 22nd, a date he shares with heavyweight boxer Deontay Wilder, famous Premier League manager Arsene Wenger, and music star Shaggy!

•       Having come through with Dan James in the Swansea City academy, Rodon won the Under-23s Premier League Cup alongside his new Leeds United teammate in the 2016/17 campaign.

•       The defender represented Wales at Under-19, Under-20 and Under-21 level before making his first team debut in 2019 against Azerbaijan.

•       With 37 senior international caps to his name now, Rodon played at both UEFA Euro 2020 and the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.

•       Coming from a sporting family, Joe’s father, Keri, played international basketball for Wales!

•       As well as being comfortable on either side of central defence, Joe has also operated at right-back when needed in his career.

•       Rodon has worn a number of different squad numbers so far in his career. At Swansea he wore 61, 22, 6 and 4. At Tottenham he’s worn 14, whilst at State Rennais he was allocated 2!

•       Joe has one sibling, a brother called Sam, who he played alongside for local club Llangyfelach in his early career.

•       The towering defender is 1.93m in height, which corresponds to 6ft 3’ tall.

•       Rodon has European football on his CV as well as international. He’s made four appearances in the UEFA Conference League and five in the Europa League.
